March in the Tangent studio was mostly sunny, a little snowy, and exceptionally busy.
“We started off the month right with a visit from longtime clients Edinburgh International Book Festival.”
We started off the month right with a visit from longtime clients Edinburgh International Book Festival. Developing campaign concepts for them every year is always a pleasure, and 2022 was no exception. A route was chosen and work has begun in earnest for EIBF’s second hybrid festival. We’re already excited for how everything will roll out at the Edinburgh College of Art site in August, and it remains one of the nicer hangovers from the pandemic that much of the festival will still be available for free online. Looking forward to testing some of the design as we inch closer to festival time.
“We’ve also been working with Levy UK & Ireland, with whom we worked on the COP26 A Recipe For Change website.”
We’ve also been working with Levy UK & Ireland on more digital projects, with whom we worked on the COP26 A Recipe For Change website. Their commitment to sustainable food practices places them at the forefront of climate conscious catering, and we’re delighted to be working on another website for one of their biggest venues, ExCeL Hospitality London.
We were delighted to also begin a handful of new jobs this month, including a project involving the decarbonisation of heat, one providing complex business services and another for a product designed to make construction sites safer. We’ve been working on a new website for longtime clients International Network of Street Papers, as well as moving forward with the Homeless World Cup. Our work with Compass Group to build a new progressive alliance for a new kind of politics also continues, the brand for which should launch before the next general election - more to come on that soon. We also helped Eden Mill soft-launch their first gin collaboration with Gordon Ramsay this month - Recipe No. 1 is available in shops now.
“The culmination of almost four years of work on our side, and many more on the side of the organisers in Dubai.”
March also brought with it the closing ceremony of the World Expo 2020! The culmination of almost four years of work on our side, and many more on the side of the organisers in Dubai. Tangent’s worked on many globally witnessed events over the years, but none have had the unique trials and tribulations of the 2020 Expo, and none have persevered for six months in the desert either. Working on a project of this magnitude was a true learning experience for us. It was a masterclass in deadlines, diplomacy, and the ever changing nature of events branding, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of it. We even had a little party in the studio for the closing ceremony, with pizza, prosecco and an unexpected performance by Christina Aguilera. You can read more about our brand work here, and our look programme here.
On that very same day, it was our own Joss’s birthday, but he chose to spend it in New York City instead of in the studio with us for some reason? Happy birthday anyway, Joss. Only other studio news to report is that we finally have a buzzer now - sorry to all clients and delivery people who had to phone us for access before it was installed.
Look out for new case studies in April - lots of things launching this month.
