Tangent

October 2021

There’s nothing like following up work on a massive global event with work on a massive global event!

October 2021

The opening month of Expo was supposed to be a very chill one at the Tangent studio - we were planning to kick back and relax the whole time. That didn’t happen! With some of the most intense timing we’ve dealt with as a company, as soon as we wrapped up (for the most part) on Expo, we had considerable work to do for COP26.

“As soon as we wrapped up (for the most part) on Expo, we had considerable work to do for COP26.”

The projects we’ve worked on around COP26 are many and varied, and run the gamut from simple to extremely high stakes: from helping Glasgow Get Ready to ensuring delegates know the carbon footprint of the meals they order; we’ve dressed sites, developed full identities for climate conscious initiatives and written many thousands of words about timber. Since this event only lasts two weeks compared to Expo’s six months, we’ve concentrated our efforts fully on it for the last month and a half and we've published a series of journal posts and case studies in November covering all the details of what we’ve been working on. Expo content will resume once we’ve all caught our breath.

“We’ve also been working with Eden Mill on their collaboration with Gordon Ramsay.”

Outwith COP26 this month we’ve also been working with illustrious Glasgow auction house McTear’s on a refresh of their brand. The project has been excellent so far, with a highly enjoyable visit to an auction already under our belt. Auctions are great, can highly recommend. We’ve been working on brand guidelines and strategy with them, and in doing some research into their history we discovered a previous site of theirs is now the Auctioneers pub next to George Square - they’ve got some original painted signage still in the bar and everything. We can sense another research trip already…

We’ve also been working with Eden Mill on their collaboration with Gordon Ramsay - we can say this much about the project, as that’s already in the press, but we can’t say much more! Keep an eye out for Ramsay’s Gin, coming soon to places that sell gin.

In non-studio news this month, Graeme successfully auditioned for Pointless and got on the show! No word yet when he’ll be on TV but rest assured, this page will be updated with the information when we have it. We also carved another loads of pumpkins but did not have a competition this year because some badly timed annual leave and a tragic pumpkin shortage meant not everyone had an entry - but still, we had some classic jack o’lanterns, a minion, a skull, a little house and a bat. Good efforts I’d say. Wish us luck for a restful November.
