Refugee Festival Scotland celebrates the contribution refugees make to life in this country – the food and drink, the music, dance and poetry, visual art and new ways of thinking that people bring with them when they seek safety in Scotland.
“Our aim was to help de-stigmatise and normalise refugees in the minds of Scottish people.”
Tangent was commissioned by the Scottish Refugee Council to refresh the event’s branding. For two weeks every June, the festival offers people from different backgrounds the chance to meet and celebrate together; to sample a little of each other’s cultures, to listen to each other’s stories and to get to know each other better.
Our aim was to help de-stigmatise and normalise refugees in the minds of Scottish people, while inspiring refugees to venture forward with confidence. Our identity uses vibrant colour, abstract iconography and photography to celebrate the coming together of cultures.
We collaborated with award winning Iranian photographer Iman Tajik to produce a series of images that capture what it means to be a refugee today.
