“Bottle No1 sold for £7,100 – a new world record for the first release from a distillery.”

St. Andrews is an historic Scottish seaside town best known for the world’s most iconic golf course and Scotland’s oldest University. It has a rich distilling heritage, with the Haig family running the Seggie Distillery until 1860. Eden Mill are picking up where the Haigs left off, reviving the very same site in 2012 to become Scotland’s first single-site brewery and distillery.

Eden Mill in St Andrews celebrate the best of old and new, combining traditional processes with an innovative, experimental approach that consistently pushes boundaries. We have reflected this in every aspect of their brand and family of products, notably their super-premium gin range and craft beers.

For this commemorative release of 300 bottles of single malt whisky, we designed a custom 70cl glass bottle with a pyramidal tactile mark of quality. The diamond label shape takes inspiration from vintage labels once used by the Haig family while our typographical approach takes its cue from elaborate 19th Century design. Individually numbered oak boxes were handcrafted and engraved in Scotland.

The first 10 bottles of the new Eden Mill single malt whisky were put on Whisky Auctioneer, with bottle No1 selling for £7,100 – a new world record for the first release from a distillery.

“Eden Mill is all about challenging the norms whilst having a healthy respect for tradition. We’ve worked with Tangent since 2015 to develop a new brand proposition for our core brand and full product portfolio. For our first ever single malt whisky to be rewarded with the prestige of a world record sale is the pinnacle of what has been a journey filled with experimentation and passion.”
