The campaign for the 2018 Edinburgh International Book Festival was based around ideas of freedom. To illustrate this we rendered everyday objects in glass and used them as a sort of lens to view things through. This typically meant whatever we used as a background would warp in an unexpected way.

This approach involved a lot of trial and error playing around with different patterns and objects, and filtering those through the various tastes and opinions of the team working on the project. This made the process of narrowing things down to a final set of images quite unpredictable. There was plenty of stimulating (if at times bizarre) discussion around the project and as a result there was a lot of work that didn’t make the cut.
