People Make Glasgow Launch

“People Make Glasgow reflects the Glaswegian character. It’s bold, friendly, confident, and it evokes a real sense of pride. The people of Glasgow are at the heart of this brand; we have created something which presents a truly distinctive identity for the city and on behalf of Glasgow I would like to warmly thank all those who gave their ideas so generously.”

Councillor Gordon Matheson
Leader of Glasgow City Council

“The world’s first crowd-sourced city brand.”

Tangent worked with Tayburn and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau to deliver the world’s first crowd-sourced city brand. Tangent then developed a distinctive look for the Glasgow identity, using a striking magenta colour palette and geometric typeface that takes its cues from Glasgow’s industrial heritage to create a brand that is unmistakably Glaswegian.

Social media activity around the conversation and subsequent launch of the new brand reached a global audience of 1.25 million Facebook and Twitter users – with ‘People Make Glasgow’ trending on Twitter on launch day, and picked up by local and national press including BBC, Chanel 4, The Guardian, Evening Times, Daily Record, The Scotsman and The Herald.
