We were delighted to be appointed by Construction Scotland Innovation Centre (CSIC) to work with them on some upcoming projects.
“The built environment is integral to our health and wellbeing.”
Buildings, infrastructure, parks and landscapes: these are the environments in which we live our lives. The built environment is integral to our health and wellbeing. How are our homes built? How are our hospitals and schools powered and heated? Do our cities provide enough green space for recreation? The answers to these questions and the decisions made around them influence our everyday life whether we know it or not.
CSIC is a place where innovation results in action and real-world impact, and they are particularly strong at interdisciplinary working and bringing people together to move beyond the theoretical. To us, this is the most important thing, and a pursuit Tangent shares: that of achieving meaningful results in the real world.
In many ways, Scotland is a leader when it comes to new thinking in the construction sector. CSIC is playing a key role in Scotland’s drive for net-zero emissions of all greenhouse gases by 2045, and part of its mission is exposing the threat our current built environment poses to that goal, as well as funding and developing solutions to those threats. CSIC does not want to shy away from imaginative ideas that lead to fundamental change. It encourages green thinking and drives the sustainability agenda through promotion of new materials and techniques. This is made possible by one of CSIC’s key differentiating strengths – the ability to draw together academia, business and the public sector, the parts of the industry that are in the supply chain and those looking for new and innovative ways of doing things. CISC leverages and builds networks that foster an entrepreneurial spirit.
CSIC’s influence can be felt in all aspects of the built environment, from funding housing schemes that use renewable energy, to developing offsite construction methods suitable for the quickly evolving post-Covid landscape. We look forward to working with them to develop their brand to ensure it is representative of who and what they are.
