“Our creative focusses on the range of artists who have influenced Gray.”
Our creative focusses on the range of artists who have influenced Gray, including Albrecht Dürer, Paul Gauguin, David Hockney, Chad McCail, Gilbert Spencer, Stanley Spencer and Adrian Wiszniewski. Our starting point was a map sketched out by Alasdair, and a typeface selected in collaboration with the artist.
We wanted to create something in keeping with the spirit of Gray as an artist – thoughtful, unconventional and striking. We took Alasdair’s map and developed it to fit the simple concept of ‘Compass Points’ – an infographic led approach that encapsulates his moral, cultural and artistic spheres of influence.
We created a limited edition range of screen printed posters in partnership with Ben Ashton, sold as part of The Alasdair Grey Season merchandise range.
